The final club cruises have now sailed, and members are looking forward to the onshore autumn programme, including a boat jumble open to the general public. This is a chance to meet club members and pick up a nautical bargain.
The penultimate Walton Pond cruise saw 18 boats enjoy a perfect sail into the pond with SADs (safe arrival drinks) , followed by a stunning meal at the Walton and Frinton Yacht club. A hotly contested boules championship saw the team of Chauka triumph, Sunday evening was a barbecue with entertainment by club musicians, a guitar trio and Jetsam, the club’s ukulele band. This very busy and sociable cruise was brilliantly organised by John and Liz.
The ultimate cruise was the Three Rivers, followed by the annual cruise dinner for everyone at the Royal Harwich Yacht Club who has participated on a cruise this year.
The cruising club’s autumn social programme is fascinating, so why not consider joining. The renowed Wednesday suppers, Thursday walks, Sunday talks and weekend bars give members a chance to socialise, when the sailing season is over.
Members are looking forward to these onshore activities. There is a boat jumble on Sunday 30th October at the club, 11am – 2pm, free entry and all welcome. The Sunday talks include the evolution of our coasts and estuarys by Professor Mark Bailey.

The Thursday walks start with a stroll around Shotley on the Ransome trail, past a vineyard and along the scenic banks of the Orwell.
