We held our cruise meeting remotely in March, when club members heard all about the exciting cruises planned (hopefully) for the 2021 season. It was great to see friends and sailing companions again, and have details of the summer cruises.
The Sunday talks are always popular, Captain Peter King has worked hard to organise virtual talks, until we can all meet in person. David Whittle gave an informative talk about Harwich in WW1, the Harwich Destroyer Force, the heroic Captain Fryatt and the S.S. Brussels, the surrender of the German U-boats into Harwich Harbour and much more. This was a fascinating talk to a packed house, and a very appreciative audience. There was extensive research with authentic photographs and documentation to add interest.
The club magazine ‘On Watch’ goes from strength to strength, with humorous nautical tales of voyages, as well as handy tips and recipes and is a monthly update on activities.
The club organises events throughout the year (nautical and land based), and members keep in touch via club magazine, social media sites, and this web site. If you are tempted by the activities, do check out the rest of this website where full details are found. New members are always welcome, and there will be the chance to join the summer cruises and activities. It is hoped the Sunday bar will open again in spring, as there is an extensive outdoor area overlooking the river, and members will be able to meet in person.
